Nancy “Nana” Wells passed away on August 19, 2017 at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.  Nancy was born June 7, 1938 in Stark County, and graduated from Louisville High School.  Her parents were John Waxler and Pearl Barnes Waxler, both originally from Zanesville.

She is survived by her four children, John (Pam) Wells, of Morgan County, Carrie Wells, Zach (Katie) Wells, and Chloe Wells; as well as her four step-children including Richard (Tina) Loy of West Lafeyette, Shawn Wells, Jamie Wells, and Holly Wells, all of Guernsey County.  She also leaves to cherish her memory nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her spouses, Charles Semple of Canton, and John Wells, Sr. of Cambridge.

During the final decades of her life she fostered over seventy children. One of those children wrote these words, which her family believes describes her life, “You’re nice and respectful to anybody, no matter who they are.  You do anything to give a person a home.  You try to make everybody happy and joyful.  You never give up.  Your patience is unbelievable.  You are the nicest people.”

Friends may attend Calling Hours at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 5 to 8PM.  Services will follow on Thursday starting at 2PM, with friends and family welcome to gather at the funeral home at 1PM.  Pastor Nate Womack will officiate the services, and burial will take place at the Chandlersville cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Genesis Healthcare Foundation, 1135 Maple Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
