Nancy L. Schultz

May 23, 1941 — August 31, 2024

New Concord

Nancy Lilian Schultz, 83, of New Concord, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Beckett House in New Concord surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 23, 1941, in Milwaukie, WI, Nancy was the daughter of Stanley Leeson and Martha Louise (Turner) Williams. A talented musician, Nancy enjoyed singing and playing the flute. In her younger years, she played flute with the Muskingum College Orchestra and also taught flute lessons to some of the children of New Concord. Her love for music extended to her participation in church choirs and she also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, knitting scarves, and crafting braided rugs.

Nancy enjoyed traveling, especially all of their camping trips across the country and even to Alaska. A devoted member of College Drive Presbyterian Church for over 56 years, she and her husband taught the pre-school Sunday school children for many years, led the prayer chain, and also played flute duets. She was also well known for the beautiful hats she wore to worship every Sunday. Her passion for learning and literature was evident through her work at the Muskingum University Library and the New Concord Branch of the Muskingum County Library System. She also worked in the Biology Department at Muskingum University. Above all, Nancy adored her family and treasured time spent with her grandchildren. She was a very creative lady and they were always excited for the “fun and games” when Grandma Nancy arrived for a visit.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, William “Bill” Schultz, whom she married on December 30, 1960; her four children, Barbara and Greg Kopp, David and Dr. Jen Bess Schultz, Martha and Dan Fogarty, and Phyllis and Kyle Ramey; eight grandchildren, T.J., David, Rachel, Darren, Kristen, Evan, Kevin, and Shannon; one great-grandson, Leo; and her sister, Gailyn Hlavka.

Nancy is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Colleen, and her parents, Martha and Stanley Williams.
