Obituary

Nancy May Miller, of Northfield, Ohio, passed away on October 25, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born November 2, 1938, to Donald and Marjorie Benfer, Nancy graduated from Lakewood High School in 1957 and then Muskingum College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

Nancy devoted 40 years of her life to teaching Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students in the Nordonia School District (Macedonia/Northfield, Ohio), touching the lives of countless children and their families. In 1988, she was selected as one of Nordonia PTA's Outstanding Educators. Long after her retirement, she was frequently greeted in the community by former students and their parents, a lasting tribute to the influence she had on their lives.

Her love of children and learning continued beyond the classroom. She enjoyed reading to children from her extensive collection of children's books, sharing with them the joy of reading and discovery.

Nancy was also a master at basket weaving, a craft that reflected her patience, creativity, and skill.

She was a member of Brecksville United Methodist Church and served as Chaplain of her Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter.

Nancy was married for more than 60 years to her loving husband, Robert Charles Miller, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Heidi L. McGraw (née Miller); her son, Michael Miller (Sandy); her grandson, Maxwell McGraw of Michigan; her sister, Margaret Clark (Larry) of Virginia; and her sister-in-law, Janet Humes.

Burial services will be private, with interment at New Concord Cemetery in New Concord, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of Nancy's lifelong dedication to children's education and reading, memorial contributions may be made to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a program that provides free books to young children and encourages a lifelong love of reading.
