Myrtle Joan (Fitz) Stiles, 83, of Duncan Falls passed away peacefully at her residence on September 5, 2015.
Joan was born in Philo on July 21, 1932 to the late Alvin C. and Beulah F. (Farver) Fitz. She attended the Philo Methodist Church and was a woman of very strong faith in the Lord. She loved her family with all her heart and everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
She retired from the Franklin Local School District where she worked as head cook for 31 years. She loved nature to the fullest and was very proud to help her father tend to the family bee hives which helped share her appreciation of God's natural world.
Joan is survived by the love of her life, Homer R. Stiles, the father of her twin daughters, Starlett A. Martin of Blue Rock and Scarlett B (Don) Jenkins of Philo; her grandchildren Michael S. (Tina) Bauserman, Jason C. Bauserman, Kassey L. (Jason) Thompson, Alisha B. Jenkins and her fiancée Jami Roberts, Jesse I. (Megan) Martin; her great-grandchildren, Andrew M. (Alley) Bauserman, Austin S. Bauserman, Natalie J. Martin, Kash R. Garber and Wyatt E. Martin and her two great-great grandsons, Kaison M. Bauserman and Camdyn W. Bauserman.
In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her sisters Opal M. Hammack and Marcella E. Cartwright, her brother Ivan L. Fitz; her granddaughter Kelly Donita Jenkins and her son-in-law Michael E. Martin Sr.
Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday with Pastor Steve Bondurant and Rev. Fred R. Adkins officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
