Melissa was born November 12, 1990 in Zanesville to Richard and Rhonda (Gingerich) Linkhorn. As a youth, she did gymnastics and played softball and baseball. Later in life enjoyed watching Little League World Series and College Softball.
She enjoyed exercising at the gym, bicycle riding with her family, and hiking with friends. She was a lover of dogs. She liked silly jokes, playing cards and spending time with her close-knit family. Melissa collected sheep of any kind, (except live ones). She also enjoyed crafting latch-hook rugs and pillows.
She was a caring aunt who was always up for whatever magical game her niece cooked up.
Melissa was a strong believer in Christ, spending many hours reading her Bible and taking part in several Bible studies. She found a church home at Cornerstone Full Gospel Church in Duncan Falls where she impacted many lives, made many close friends and was active in a number of ministry activities, including the church’s annual Worthy is the Lamb stage production.
Melissa was a graduate of John Glenn High School, Zane State University and Bowling Green State University, pursuing a career in healthcare after earning her bachelor’s degree. She was employed at the Genesis HealthPlex.
Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Marjorie Linkhorn, and her loyal black lab mix, Sugar.
She is survived by her parents, Richard and Rhonda Linkhorn, of New Concord, grandparents, William and Jean Gingerich, of New Concord, her dog, Shadow, who was so named for her tendency to tail Melissa wherever she went, her brother, Tyrel (Molly) Linkhorn, of Toledo, and their children, Cora and Henry, as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Melissa will be deeply missed by her family, but we find peace in knowing that she is now with Jesus, a meeting she had long looked forward to with joyous anticipation. She is now happy in her eternal home.
