Matthew L. Somers

Matthew Leroy Somers, 44, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

Born August 29, 1980, in Zanesville, Matt was the son of Jockette (Somers) Cooper and his stepfather, Joseph Cooper, and the late Randy Croston. Matt enjoyed spending time with his friends, playing cards, hanging out, or watching sports. He was a dedicated sports fan who loved cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, Matt is survived by his five children: Daisha Somers, Tyshaundre Somers, Tamya Somers, Kyree Somers, and Jacob Sontag; his granddaughter, Makiyah Somers; and his brothers, Brandon Somers and Mason Somers.

In addition to his father, Matt is preceded in death by his son, Tremayne Somers; as well as his granddaughter, Kamyla Somers.

A Celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at a later date. A caring cremation has been entrusted to the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.
