Mary S. Hermann

Mary H. Hermann, 88 of New Concord, passed away at 10:50 am Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Beckett House in New Concord. Mary was born August 22, 1925 in Minburn, Iowa, the daughter of the late Walter Scott and Gladys (Slocum) Shirley. She retired from Foote Mineral in Cambridge after 11 years where she worked as an accounting clerk, she also had a degree in economics from the University of Iowa. Mary is survived by her children Nancy Hermann of L.A., Cynthia Owen of New Concord and a son John (Lori) Hermann of Massilion, OH; a grandson Alexander Hermann; a brother Robert E. (Anne) Shirley of Corvallis, OR and two sisters Ann Rowe of Dallas Center, IA and Patricia (Donald) VanAtta of L.A. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband Stanley Hermann, who passed away in 1996; a son James R. Hermann who passed away in 2001 and her four brothers and sisters. Visitations will be 11 to 1 pm Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Farus Funeral Home in New Concord, where funeral services will be at 1 pm. Burial will follow in New Concord Cemetery.
