Mary Lou Ferguson, 93, of New Concord, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Genesis Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born March 8, 1931, Mary Lou was the daughter of Gaylord “Shorty” and Louella (Morrow) Wymer. She graduated from New Concord High School in 1949. Mary Lou was a devoted wife to her husband of 54 years, Valentine “Wally” Ferguson, whom she married on January 15, 1950, and a loving mother of four children.
Always on the go, in her younger days, Mary Lou enjoyed square dancing and attending meetings of the “Sisters of the Skillet”. She looked forward to her weekly bowling league of which she was a member for nearly forty years. She also loved to golf, initially learning to play with her husband, Wally, then after his passing, she joined a couple local leagues. If you knew Mary Lou, you knew she never passed up a chance to play euchre, and she could be found playing cards in many different card clubs throughout her life.
Mary Lou is survived by her children, Gary (Ruth) Ferguson, Val (Chuck) Myers, and Tracy (John) Bugglin; her daughter-in-law, Pauline Ferguson; eight grandchildren, Kevin (Lori) Myers, Ryan (Tara) Ferguson, Dustin (Casey) Myers, Mandy (A.J.) Robbins, Mallory (Larry) Valentine, Brett Ferguson, Taylor (Seth) Flora and Reid (Carrie) Bugglin; her twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
In addition to her loving husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her son, James “Jim” Ferguson and two brothers, William and Richard Wymer.
Visitations for Mary Lou will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on the same day. Pastor Doug Winner will officiate the service. Mary Lou will be laid to rest beside Wally in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
