Marven “Tom” Gale Bowers, 76, a resident of Zanesville, OH passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Tom will be remembered for his love of fishing and being on the water. He had a quirky sense of humor, but never got laughs at another’s expense. He was passionate about Louis Lamour Westerns, and enjoyed playing Solitaire on his computer. He never met a stranger.
Tom served proudly in the United States Army from 1/16/1968 to 12/21/1969 with rank of E4 and MOS 76P20. He also enlisted in the National Guard 12/16/1974 to 9/15/1987 with rank of PFC and MOS 76B-63W. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Clint Kramer Chapter #12 in Zanesville, OH.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy and Michael Bowers; his cherished siblings, Pauline, Minnie Jo, Helen, Ruth, and Billy; his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his siblings, Chuck, Jeff, Sy, Linda, and his infant sister.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to local Childhood “Abuse” Awareness Programs or to the local DAV.
A memorial service will be held from 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the American Legion Post #29, 27 South 3rd St, Zanesville, OH 43701. Military honors provided by the George Selsam Post #1058 will be held at 3:30 pm.
