Marion B. Gatewood

Marion B. Gatewood, 83 of Chandlersville, unexpectedly said his final “Well…” on July 23, 2021, at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room.

Marion was born on May 3, 1938 in Zanesville. He is the son of the late Walter R. and Violet M. (Palmer) Gatewood. Marion was a lifetime area farmer who raised Hereford Cattle and Berkshire Hogs, and he retired after 33 years as a machine operator at Rockwell International. He was a member of the Chandlersville United Methodist Church, Carlwick-Grange, the Oddfellows. Marion was a former president of the Farm Bureau, and he was the former Chandlersville Home and School Association president. He was an active member of the Chandlersville Riders Club, and loved to ride his horse, Smokey. He was active in both 4-H and FFA. Marion was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Marion is survived by his loving wife, Nancy R. (Linscott) Gatewood, whom he married on June 2, 1957; his daughters, Crystal (Robert) Fuller of Zanesville, and Vicki (Dale) Gatewood-Myers of Chandlersville; his grandchildren, Cassandra (Matt) Shrigley, David (Katie) Fuller, Ann (Nick) Smeltzer, Aimee Myers, and Emily Myers; his great-grandchildren, Karson Shrigley, Hanna Shrigley,  Lillyanne Fuller, Blaine Fuller, and Aidan, Ava, and Ayla Smeltzer; and his sisters, Carol (Bill) Hildebrand, Nancy Fracker, and Betty Ryan.

Visitations will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be at 10:00am on Wednesday with Pastor Keith Taylor Officiating. Following the funeral service, he will be laid to rest.
