Marilynn Ilene Patton of Zanesville, passed away on Saturday, March 26th while in the care of The Oaks at Northpointe, she was 93 years old.  She was born July 19th, 1922 at her home in South Zanesville; a daughter of Roy and Floy McClelland.  She graduated from the South Zanesville High School, Class of 1940, as well as the Meredith Business College.  She worked as a secretary at the O.K. Coal and Concrete; where she worked for her brother J.W. McClelland for over 43 years until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of the Sonora United Methodist Church, was the Clerk of the Muskingum County Fair for 14 years, and was a Past Matron of Laura Chapter of the Eastern Star #264 of Norwich.  She belonged to several senior citizen groups.  Marilynn loved to laugh, and believed that you should enjoy a hardy laugh at least once a day.  She enjoyed playing on her computer, reading mystery and romance novels, involving herself in community activities, and playing in several card clubs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Scott Patton, her son, Bernard Patton, and her brother, James W. McClelland.  She is survived by her daughter, Georgia (George) Griffin of Zanesville, her daughter-in-law, Karen Patton, of Powell, Ohio, two granddaughters, Susan (Eric) Fickas, and Lisa (Frank) Blair, and three great-grandchildren, Frank, Addison, and Max.  She also leaves to cherish her memory three special friends, Nancy Evans, Yvonne Jackson, and Charlotte Lorey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and former co-workers.

Calling hours for Marilynn will be held at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Tuesday, March 29th from 4 to 8PM, and Eastern Star Services will be held at 6PM.  Services will follow on Wednesday, March 30th, with an additional calling hour from 10 to 11Am, with services starting promptly at 11AM.  Rev. Roger Morrow will officiate services, and burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sonora United Methodist Church, located at 4540 Old Country Ln, Zanesville, OH 43701.
