Lyman G. Kastelic, 88 of Cumberland passed away peacefully at his residence on July 5, 2016.

Lyman was born in March 31, 1928 at #9 Fuller Camp near Cherokee, KS.  He is the only child of the late John Kastelic Jr. and Anna (Indihar) Kastelic.

He attended grade and high school in Cherokee, KS and graduated Coyne Electric School in Chicago, IL and Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS where he was on the 1945 football team.  He was the owner of the Freeland Oil Co during the 70’s and 80’s.  He retired from the Central Ohio Coal Company after 41 years where he operated the Big Muskie for the last 3 years.  He served his country in the US Army serving in Nanking, China during the Chinese Civil War.

Lyman is survived by his wife Helen Faye (Ross) Kastelic whom he married April 23, 1949; his children John (Janet) Kastelic of Cambridge, Sara Kastelic of Cambridge, Charles (Louella) Kastelic of Cumberland, Faye (Mike) Fulper of Cumberland, Mary (Gib) Wetzler of Byesville and Jim (Tracy) Kastelic of Cambridge; his nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Lyman is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Anna Marie Childers.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Cumberland where funeral services will be held 11 am Friday with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating.  He will be laid to rest in Cumberland Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
