Louella I. Leis

Louella I. (Thomas) Leis, 72 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family, at Genesis Hospital.

Louella was born on November 22, 1949 in Zanesville.  She is the daughter of the late David and Ferrell “Louise” (Smith) Thomas.  She retired after over 40 years working for the Community Action Agency in Zanesville.  She also worked at the RHDD and she was a member of the domestic violence collation until her retirement.  She was a former member of the Zanesville Eagles #302 and the VFW Post #1058.  She enjoyed sewing and made many wedding and prom dresses; she enjoyed baking and made many birthday and wedding cakes; and she enjoyed evenings out with her friends, going out to dinner, attending musicals or going to the theater.  She previously lived in Duncan Falls for many years where she attended and is a member of the Duncan Falls Baptist Church.

Louella is survived by her son, Donnie (Jennifer Hastings) Thomas; her step-children, Matthew (Stephanie) Leis, Alex Leis, and Briana (Brian) Silverio of Iowa; her grandchildren, Jordan Lancaster, Kaleb and Kasen Robinson, Stefanee Leis, Brittany Silverio, Holly Stauffer, Maggie Peterson, Ayreona Leis, Amelia Leis, Valerie Leis, Anthony Leis; one great granddaughter; her siblings, Ronald (Martha) Thomas, Lowell (Rita) Thomas, Linda (Charlie) Cox, Willie (Pat) Thomas; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her two best friends, Dorothy Thomas and Vickie Moore.

In addition to her parents, Louella is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Lawrence S. Leis, who passed away on April 29, 2012; her sister, Edie Harbor and her brother, Art Thomas.

Visitations will be 4 to 7 pm Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday.  Pastor Chris Steel will officiate the service.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
