Linda M. King, 63, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at Genesis Hospital following a brief illness.
Linda was born on January 2, 1962, in Zanesville. She was the daughter of the late Bory L. and Rosa (Marshall) Kennedy. A dedicated nurse for over 40 years, Linda retired from Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus where she worked as a Registered Nurse at and later shared her passion for nursing as an instructor at COTC. She was a proud graduate of Hocking College, Class of 1992. Linda was also a member of Byesville Assembly of God Church and Olive Branch OES Chapter #251.
Linda had a zest for life and loved traveling, especially taking cruises to Mexico where she swam with dolphins. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, and cooking for her family. Above all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to shop for something special.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William L. Calendine, who passed away on May 5, 2009; her in-laws, Jack and Geneva King; and her parents.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Gary W. King; her children, Shane (Ellie) King and Shayna (Jacob) Hempfling; her cherished grandchildren, Johnny, Alexis, Brayden, and Rosa; her siblings, Glenn (Jane) Kennedy, Mark (Lois) Kennedy, John (Loretta) Kennedy, Rita (Tom) Ogg, Sharon (Kenneth) Ogg, and Mary (Jon) Calendine; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend, Janie Downer.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Linda on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 12:00- 2:00 pm at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. A memorial service will follow after at 2 pm. Pastor Joe Summers will officiate the service. Linda will be laid to rest beside her first husband at Woodrow Family Cemetery.
