Linda Garrett

May 5, 1947 — April 1, 2024

Duncan Falls

Linda (Moore) Garrett, 76, of Duncan Falls, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. She was born in Zanesville on May 5, 1947, to Charles and Ruth (Daugherty) Moore. Linda graduated from Zanesville High School in 1965. She worked as a lifeguard at Zanesville Municipal Pool, a telephone operator at Ohio Bell, a teacher’s aide at Duncan Falls Elementary and a receptionist/assistant at Variety Attractions. Linda never met a stranger, and carried conversation and laughter with her wherever she went. She found joy in watching hummingbirds and deer from the porch, meeting friends for lunch with her “lunch bunch” and watching and cheering for The OSU Buckeyes. Linda loved to make people laugh, especially through pranks, so it was fitting that she passed on April Fool’s Day, one of her favorite days of the year. She had a playful nature and found a kindred spirit in the character Eeyore and seasonal Eeyore plushies would often decorate her cane or walker. Manatees were one of her favorite animals, as she liked watching the gentle giants swim. Linda appreciated many facets of life, but she especially loved and was most proud of her role as a mother and grandmother.

Linda is survived by her children, Lisa (Scott) Durant of Buckeye Lake, John Garrett of Orient, and Matt (Brooke) Garrett of Moxahala; her grandchildren, Mila, Parker, Paige, Madison, and Grant Garrett; sister-in-law, Eldora Campbell of Macon, Georgia; loyal canine companion, Toby as well as several nieces, nephews and countless friends who will live on to cherish Linda’s memory.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Darrell Garrett, who passed away on May 4, 2021; her siblings-in-laws, Donald and Ermina McElroy, William and Junita Garrett and Pete Campbell.

Forever a host, Linda’s favorite moments were the times she spent with friends and family. She was happiest when her table was full, and everyone had coffee and snacks. Linda’s door was always open for visitors and conversation, and her warmth and hospitality extended to all she encountered.

The family would like to thank Angie Jones, Carol Miller, Lela Northrup and Cheryl King for their assistance in helping Linda and the family over the past few years. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Animal Shelter Society, Inc. 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, OH 43701; The Muskingum County Humane Society PO Box 74, Roseville, OH 43777 or to a charity that gives back to others the way Linda did for so many.

A celebration of her life will be held at the gravesite on Saturday, June 22nd at 11 a.m. at the Eppley (Albright/Dutch Hill) Cemetery in Eagleport, OH, Morgan County. The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is caring for the Garrett family.
