Rev. Leonard Burson, 89, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord July 24, 2014 after a brief stay at Cambridge Health Care. Leonard was born August 29, 1924, in Morrow County, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Lula (Sipes) Burson. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lula Burson; sister, Doris Witschi; brother, Anthony Burson; sister, Rebecca Whitaker Russell; infant daughter, Karen; son-in-law, Bill Lytle; and son-in-law, Val Kunze. Leonard is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Betty (Nicholas) Burson; five children: Esther (Bill) Hacker, Cambridge; Velma Kunze, Mt. Gilead; Bruce (Linda) Burson, Laurelville; Martha (Steve) Cochran, Cambridge; and Emily (Mike) Paslay, Cumberland. He also had seven grandchildren: Leonard Lytle, Natilee Willis, Vanessa (Ian) Panth, Vaughn (Natalie) Kunze, Vance Kunze, Brian (Teresa) Burson, and Paul Paslay; and eight great-grandchildren: Daniel Lytle, Quentin Lytle, Christopher Panth, Corban Panth, Caleb Panth, Zoe Burson, Grant Kunze, and Elyse Kunze. Rev. Burson was a retired minister who shared his love of the Lord with many people. His singing and joyful spirit will be missed, but we know he's singing, whistling, and joking on the golden streets of heaven. Calling hours for Leonard will be held at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, Ohio on Saturday, July 26th from 9:30 to 11AM. Service will begin promptly at 11AM. Burial will be held on Sunday, July 27th at the Bryn Zion Cemetery located at 5520 County Road 240, Mt. Gilead, Ohio. Pastor Martin Hennessy will be officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of the Cambridge Health and Rehab Center for all their warmth, kindness, and the wonderful care they received from them.
