Kermit R. Swingle, 83 of Philo, passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2016 while under the care of Genesis Hospice.

Kermit was born in Roseville on December 3, 1932.  He was the son of the late George R. and Hazel M. Swingle.  He was a self-employed owner and operator of Swingle Trucking, working for over 60 years.  He loved cars, trucks, playing cards, listening to bluegrass music and playing his banjo.  He cherished the many trips he took with his wife Barbara and their family to Canada fishing and Kermit proudly served his country in the US Army.

Kermit is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Swingle whom he married on November 5, 1955; his son Mike Swingle of Blue Rock; his two grandchildren Wesley Swingle and Stephanie (Morgan) Reed; his five great-grandchildren, Brice, Ellie, Mason, Caden and Ava and his sister Deloris Wolfe of Philo.

In addition to his parents, Kermit is preceded in death by a sister Wilma Jean Fisher.

Calling hours for friends and family will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday with Pastor Dee Rader officiating.  He will be laid to rest in Iliff Cemetery, Crooksville with full military honors provided by VFW Post #1058 and the US Army Color Gaurd.
