Kay D. Crippen

March 23, 1952 — June 7, 2024

New Concord

Kay D. Crippen, 72 of New Concord, passed away peacefully at her residence with her husband by her side on June 7, 2024.

Kay was born on March 23, 1952 in Zanesville. She is the daughter of the late James W. and Colleen (McGath) Lent. Kay retired from the deli at Kroger’s in Zanesville and Cambridge. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, canning, as well as going to yard sales and the farmer’s market. Most importantly, Kay loved to surround herself with her family and spend as much time as she could with them. She was a doting mother, wife, and grandmother whose memories will forever be cherished by the ones she leaves behind.

Kay is survived by her loving husband of almost fifty-four years, Harry W. Crippen, whom she married on September 5, 1970; her daughter, Tina Whiteley; her grandchildren, Kimberly Whiteley and Chase Lively; as well as her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Tammy Crippen, who passed away in March of 1971; her brothers, Robert McGath and Jay Lent; as well as her parents-in-law, William “Bill” H. and Lena (Chaney) Crippen.

In keeping with Kay’s wishes, a caring cremation will take place. The Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is caring for the Crippen family.
