Karolyn Marie Martin-Brown, 65, of Philo, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024 at her residence unexpectedly following complications from a previous surgery.
Karolyn was born September 30, 1958, in Zanesville to the late Michael Emerson Martin Sr. (Starlett) and Merle Louise Kassell-Murray (Carl). Karolyn worked as a waitress for many years, and later on worked at Economy Linen where she retired. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Philo. Karolyn loved visiting the lake and beach to go swimming. She loved to cook and garden in her flower gardens.
She is survived by her loving husband of three years, Curtis J. Brown; her children Michelle (Mike O’Neal) Martin-Berry and Loren (Bobby) Ralph; her step-children Paul (Stephanie) Brown and Molly (Matt) Mullen; her grandchildren Lakyn Walter, Tim Berry Jr., McKenzie Harmon, Wyatt Brown, Luke Brown, Tanner Mullen, and Parker Mullen; her great-grandchildren Zai’Raha, Zai’Rayah, Ka’leigha, and Ai’yden; surviving are her brothers Michael E. Martin Jr., Harvey B. Martin (Shannon), Clay A. Martin, and Jesse I. Martin (Megan); her step-mother and friend, Starlett A. Martin (Dudley Meadows), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Karolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Verna Sue Valentine, Stephen D. (Lainie) Martin, Teresa J. Martin, Kimberly J. Wakely, and Gordon K. Martin; her special niece, Natalie Jane Martin; and her special friend throughout life Lillie “Dixie” Boyd.
A public Celebration of Life will be held at Pennsville United Methodist Church, 1710 Washington St., Stockport, Ohio 43787 at 12:00 pm on Sunday, June 23 with Pastor Stephen Bondurant officiating. Graveside services for Karolyn will be held at Duncan Falls Cemetery on Monday, June 24, at 12:00 pm.
The family of Karolyn would like to send out a special thanks to all staff at Shriver’s Hospice for the compassion and care given to Karolyn. Melissa, Delaney, and Kimmie were very special to the family.
