Karen “Scotti” M. Hinze, 82 of New Concord, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Throughout her life, Scotti maintained a strong faith in God.
Scotti was born on March 5, 1943, in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is the daughter of the late Cub and Christine (Berger) Boring. Scotti retired from Genesis Hospital after dedicating many years as an administrative assistant, as well as a longtime volunteer at the hospital. She loved to cook, sew, and most importantly spend time with her children and grandchildren. One of Scotti’s precious touches of the heart was every summer hosting a Cousin Camp. A full week of activities where all her grandkids would form bonds and create lifelong happy memories.
Scotti is survived by her husband, James D. Hinze, whom she married on September 12, 1985; her children, Tim (Kim) Seaton, Kristi Seaton, and Michael (Chris) Seaton; as well as her step-children, who she loved like her own, Brian (Anne) Hinze, Thomas (Angie) Hinze, and David (Anka) Hinze; her fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Tom Tallent; her sisters-in-law, Ann (Mike) Dissinger and Suzanne Stall; as well as a nephew, several nieces, cousins, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Scotti is preceded in death by her two sisters, Peggy Lowry and Mary Tallent.
A Celebration of Scotti’s life will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm, officiated by Pastor Keith Taylor.
