Kane A. Mason, 15 of Columbus, passed away peacefully at Nationwide Children’s Hospital on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after fighting a courageous battle with the KCNT1 gene mutation for over thirteen years.
Kane was born on August 25, 2009, in Zanesville. He is the beloved son of Kenneth Mason and Noelle (Greulich) Loy. Kane received home services from South High School in Columbus. He loved school buses, big trucks, the movies “Cars” and “Inside Out”, as well as basketballs and footballs. ‘
In addition to his mother and father, Kane is survived by his bonus father, Brian Loy; his siblings, BriarRose Mason, Lucas (Michaela) Plumadore and Christian Plumadore; his maternal grandparents, Claude and Dawn Greulich and Alvin (Karen Miley) Leedham; his bonus grandparents, Dan and Beverly Mayo, and Walter and Deborah Loy; his cherished cat, Loki; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Kane is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Kathy Sharkey, and Kenneth and Darla Mason Sr.; as well as his cat, Junior.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Kane’s home health nurse, “Grandma” Brenda Manuel, for the kindness and care she showed Kane over the last eight years. They would also like to thank every nurse who played a role in his care.
A Celebration of Kane’s life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Rhema House of Worship, 5167 Harlan Road, Roseville, Ohio 43777. The family asks for guests to please bring a covered dish. The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is caring for the Mason family.
