June “Joy” Sturtevant peacefully passed away on Friday, August 28th while in the care of the Morrison House in Zanesville. She was 89 years old. She was born in Cannelville, Ohio on May 26th, 1926 to John and Violet Stewart. Joy loved serving her community, and did a great deal of volunteer work including places such as Southeastern Med, and the East Muskingum School District. She enjoyed doing crafts and sewing; she really enjoyed shopping, and she cherished living in New Concord.
She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Dr. David Sturtevant. She is survived by her loving children, including daughter, Lynne (Michael Pingrey) Sturtevant, son, Mark (Jennifer) Sturtevant, and son, James (Penny) Sturtevant; as well as her grandchildren, Sam, Olivia, David and Maria Sturtevant, and Jason (Niki) Corrigan, and one great-grandchild, Kaia Corrigan.
A Memorial Service for Joy will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 11AM, with friends and family encouraged to gather ½ hour earlier at the Muskingum University Brown Chapel, located at the campus on College Drive, New Concord, Ohio. Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is assisting with arrangements.
