Joyce Marie Mercer

Joyce Marie Mercer passed away on January 6, 2021 at The Oaks at Northpointe following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Joyce was born on March 11, 1928 in Athens, Alabama, the daughter of Walter and Ila Anderson.  She retired from Bethesda Hospital (now Genesis Healthcare) where she worked as an LPN. She loved swimming and archery and prided herself in being a former Women’s State Archery Champion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Mercer, and a son, John Mercer.  She is survived by sons Jerry Mercer of Moscow, Ohio and Jeff (Lynn) Mercer of Blue Rock; daughter Carolyn (Bill) Grossman of Pleasant Hill California, daughter-in-law Katha Mercer of Zanesville; grandchildren Tony (Dee) Mercer, Jolene Barnes (Phil Braniger), Chris (Susan) Grossman, Lindsay (Bryant) Burkhardt, Marc Mercer (Amanda Mount), and Matt Mercer; seven great grandchildren with another one due on March 11th, and two sisters and one brother residing in Alabama.

No calling hours will be observed.  A private family service will be held with Farus Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  A caring cremation will take place.
