Joseph D. Pyatt, 94, formerly of Philo, passed away 4:50 pm Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Florida Joseph was born March 3, 1919 in Philo the son of the late Ralph J. and Regina A. (Kussmaul) Pyatt. He retired in 1984 after 24 years working as a General Mine Supervisor at the Ohio Power Coal Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post #246; the Knights of Columbus # Counsel 505, a life member of the Philo / Duncan Falls VFW Post #10275, he was a member of the former St. Anns Catholic Church in Philo and he served his country in the US Army in the 37th division in the Asian Pacific. Joseph is survived by his son-in-law, Joe Brannon of Homosassa, FL; brother's, Leo Pyatt and Thomas Pyatt both of Columbus, OH and Robert Pyatt of NC; sister's, Lillian Collopy and Margaret Trout both of Zanesville, OH; granddaughters, Terri (Richard) Stephens of New Albany, IN, Kristina (David) Dix of Homosassa, FL and Andrea (Mike) Humphreys of Crystal River, FL; great grandchildren, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Olivia and Lincoln Stephens, Aaron, Adam and Caleb Dix, Tyler and Jordan Humphreys. In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Pyatt who passed away March 16, 2010; his daughter Kathy Brannon, a brother John Pyatt and a sister Rita Shubert. Visitations will be 9 to 10 am on Thursday2013 at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 10 am with Father Jordan officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the St. Anns Cemetery, Philo. Full military honors will be given by George Selsam Post 1058
