John E. Warne Jr., 91 of Zanesville passed away peacefully on March 13, 2016 while under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House.
John was born in Zanesville on March 9, 1925, the son of the late John E. and Mable G. Warne. He retired as a foreman for the Hannon Electric Motor Services, He was a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church, the VFW Post #1058 and he enjoyed playing in the Senior Golf League. John proudly served his country in the US Army Air Force serving in WWII and he was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
John is survived by his two daughters Karen Elaine (Jerry) Shaffer of Zanesville and Sue (Donald) Bilski of Athens; his two grandchildren Brian (Jennifer) Barker and Karen (Todd) Dunlap, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and his sister Carol Smith of Zanesville.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife Garnetta J. Warne who passed away December 3, 2012, brother Thurman Warne, his sister Dorothy Crawford and a great-great-grandson Dallas.
Calling hours for friends and family will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held 10am Thursday, with Rev. Joy French and Rev. Dee Rader officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post #1058 and the US Army Color Guard. He will be laid to rest with his wife in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
