John William Taylor passed away at the South Eastern Regional Medical Center on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 following a brief illness, he was 88 years old. John was born in Cambridge, Ohio on January 18th, 1929 to John P. and Mary (Hoover) Taylor. John Proudly served in the U.S. Army during the 1950’s; he was formerly employed at the Danley Hill Company and Cambridge Vanadium, before finally retiring from the N.C.R. in 1988 after 19 years of service. He was a gun enthusiast, and was a member of the Cambridge Amateur Radio Association; his call letters being N8FXL. He also belonged to the Belmont County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.
John is survived by his sisters-in-law including Virginia M. Taylor, Margaret (Walter) Zipperich, and Twila Brill Hartley; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Mary (Brill) Taylor, who passed away in 2001, his sister, Katherine Keberle, and his brother, Karl H. Taylor.
Friends and family are welcome to attend Calling Hours for John at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Sunday, January 22nd from 3 to 7PM, and on Monday the 23rd from 11 to 12 Noon. Services will start promptly at 12PM, and burial will follow at Bloomfield Cemetery. Pastor Tim Pollock will officiate services.
