John W. “Bill” Tysinger, 86 of Philo went home to be with his Lord and walk the streets of gold with his forever love on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Bill was born in Deavertown on March 12, 1930 the son of Robert and Jocie (Rambo) Tysinger. He attended York High School in Deavertown. He was a proud member of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.
April 5, 1953 he married the love of his life Donna Hutson Tysinger. He worked in several local potteries and then went on to Hazel Atlas. He retired from there then known as Brockway after 39 years of service.
He and his wife raised their family in Philo. He coached Little League baseball, was a past city council member and Harrison Township Trustee. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Past commander and member of the American Legion Post 246, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Most of all he was the best father and grandfather. He was our “Cobbie” and we were his life. He was proud to be an American and insisted on buying American made.
Bill is survived by his children Cheryl (Jerry) Jenkins, Paul (Sue) Tysinger, Carla (Dan) Ewing and Gina (Jeff) LeCocq; grandchildren Joe (Heidi) Jenkins, Brian Ewing, Tia (Chase) Delong and Tony Tysinger; two great grandchildren Drew and Libby Jenkins; his sister Kay Tysinger Hedges and brothers Delmar (Clara) Tysinger and Dean (Donna) Tysinger; many wonderful nieces and nephews who brought him much joy.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Donna who passed away March 13, 2014; his grandsons John Michael Jenkins and Joshua Brian LeCocq; his brother Robert Tysinger Jr; his sisters Mary Tysinger Reed and Betty Tysinger Williams.
The family would like to give a special thank you and recognition to the wonderful healthcare team that gave Dad such amazing care. You looked beyond his age and realized that each day counted and was cherished. You allowed him to take the journey he wanted and we could not have done it without each of you. He loved you all! Dr. Chen and Mt. Carmel Healthcare system, the Zanesville VA home based clinic; Teresa, Barb and Nathan; his physical therapist Amber; Hospice of Central Ohio, nurse Ann, his special caregivers Ginny, Sherry and Sandy and a tremendous thank you to his grandson Brian Ewing. We could not have done it without you!
Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday, May 30, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where the funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday with Pastor Gerry Wade officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors provided by George Selsam Post #1058 and the US Color Guard.
