John D. Shipley

John D. Shipley, 72 of New Concord, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at his residence, with his loving family by his side.

John was born on May 4, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Webster and Estelle (Ginther) Shipley. He worked for the New Bakery in Zanesville for twenty-eight years before retiring. John loved spending time with his family, especially when he was fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed Crosley cars and car shows with his brother, woodworking, collecting coins, and model trains.

John is survived by his second wife, Karen E. (Weiser) Shipley, whom he married on February 29, 2020; his sons, Steven (Michele) Shipley, David (Kelly) Shipley, Dan (Amanda) McNeilis, Robin Stephens, and Robby Rice; his grandchildren, Alissa McNeilis, Elizabeth Kelley McNeilis, Jacob McNeilis, Jessica McNeilis, Bryer Shipley, Alexis Shipley, Michael Reynolds, Tabitha Stephens, Tyler Stephens, Madison Pride, Ava Pride, Brady North, Dominick North, and Devin North; his great-grandson, Ralphie Lee; his siblings, Estelle (Tom) George, Bill (Sallie) Shipley, Chuck (Jan) Shipley, Susan (Matt) Berilla, Ray Shipley; as well as several nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his first wife of thirty-eight years, Virginia D. (McNeilis) Shipley, who passed away on October 18, 2017; as well as his brother, Rob Shipley.

Visitations for John will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. Funeral services for John will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the New Concord Church of Christ, 13333 Maple Lane, New Concord, Ohio 43762. Evangelist Terry Townsend will officiate the service. John will be laid to rest at a later date.
