John A. Grimes, 45 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Genesis Hospital.

John was born on November 16, 1980, in Zanesville, the son of the late Alfred Grimes Jr. and Agnes (Daniel) Medley. He was a loving brother and uncle who truly cherished the time he spent with his family, holding them close to his heart. John enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, and attending demolition derbies with his good friend, Demetrius. He was a man of faith and a devoted member of the Pentecostals of Zanesville Church.

He is survived by his two sisters, Trisha Stuchell and Sophie Grimes; John’s pride and joy, his nieces and nephews, Becky, Angel, Sarah, Liliana, Jacob, Milton, Liviana, JoJo, Ja’heim, Ja’vari, Camilla, Khelani, and Analeya; as well as many cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his lifetime partner, Terri Glosser; his siblings, Katrina Ferrell and Brian Grimes; his Uncle Dean, who grew up alongside John; as well his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to anyone who ever took the time to make John’s world a little brighter during his time. Any donations in John’s name can be made out to the Pentecostals of Zanesville Church.

In keeping with John’s wishes, a caring cremation will take place and a Celebration of John’s life will be posted at a later date. The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is caring for the Grimes family.
