Norwich Joeseph D. Buchanan (90) passed away peacefully at 7AM on Thursday, September 18th while in the care of Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. He was born in Chandlersville, Ohio to the Late Perl and Fern Taylor Buchanan on March 27th, 1924. Joe proudly served in the United States Navy, was a former Postmaster, and was the owner of Buchanan Trailer Sales. He was also an operator of Howards Cleaners, and was a member of the Norwich Volunteer Fire Department as well as the American Quarter Horse Association. Joe was also a 50 year member of the Malta Masonic Lodge. He is predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers, Herbert, Dayle, Kenneth, and George Buchanan, his sister, Edith Farus, and his daughter-in-law Becky Buchanan. Joe leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy Buchanan. He is also mourned by his children including sons, Joseph & Rebecca Buchanan of Urbana, OH, Thomas & Cyndi Buchanan of Cochranton, PA, James R. & Lisa Buchanan of Canal Winchester, OH, Robert Buchanan of Loudonville, OH, and Edward Bates of Franklinville, N.C.; and two daughters, Jennifer Buchanan of Zanesville, and Cheryl Bennett of Cambridge, OH. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Joe Buchanan, Thomas Buchanan, Shawn & Renae Buchanan, Allen Bennett, Brian & Jen Bennett, Jamie & Matt Archer, Sarah Buchanan, Leah Buchanan, Sebastion Buchanan, Linda & Nick Harris, Misty Bates, Jessica Bates, and Ed Bates, as well as 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, Gene Buchanan of Zanesville, OH as well as a multitude of friends and family. Calling hours for Joe will be held at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, formerly the Mock Miller Funeral Home, on Saturday, 20th 11AM to 1PM and 3 to 5 PM, with services starting promptly at 5PM. Pastor Keith Taylor will be officiating, there will also be Masonic Services which will be held at 2:45 on Saturday, and full military honors following services.
