Joan L. Neff

Joan L. Neff, 90 of Norwich, went home to be with her Lord on February 23, 2025, at the Beckett House surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born on July 19, 1934 in Zanesville. She is the daughter of the late Glen and Christine (West) Bamfield. She enjoyed a fulfilling career and retired from Milfair Linoleum and Carpet after many years of dedicated work. Joan’s faith was central to her life, and she was a lifelong member of the Norwich Methodist Church, where she played piano and was deeply involved in studying and teaching the Bible. She also had a passion for arts and crafts, particularly crocheting, and treasured the time spent with friends, including square-dancing with her dear friend, Frosty Graham. Above all, Joan cherished the time she spent with her family.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Cheryl “Sherry” Cross and Carol (Sonny) Umstott of New Concord; her sons, Rick (Deborah) Neff of Norwich and Randy (Tami) Neff of Zanesville; her nine grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, William “Bill” M. Neff, whom she married on August 11, 1954, and who passed away on August 28, 2007; as well as her sisters, Jeanie McCall and Janet White.

Visitations for Joan will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. A funeral service will follow visitations at 1 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Keith Taylor will officiate the service. Joan will be laid to rest beside Bill at Norwich Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
