Jerry A. Steele

Jerry A. Steele, 75 of Chandlersville, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.

Jerry was born on November 11, 1945 in Chillicothe, Ohio.  He is the son of the late Marvin W. Steele and Ercell (Sharon) Hensley.  Jerry worked for the State of Ohio for the Veterans Employment and Training Department; he also worked with the Homeless Foreign Veterans Association for over 15 years.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1058; a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and he served his country during the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He served from 1964 to 1970.

Jerry is survived by his two children, Dawn Marie Johnston and Jerry (Jessica Sedlock) Steele, his grandchildren, Zachary (Brooke) Dunn, Vanessa Johnston and Justin Johnston; and his brother, Donald (Lydia) Steele.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel Steele and Terry Lee Steele and his nephew, Danny Steele.

Visitations will be 3 to 6 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio; and also 10 to 11 am on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home, 383 Main Street, Duncan Falls, Ohio 43734.  Funeral services will follow visitations at 11 am with full military honors provided by George Selsam Post # 1058 and the US Marine Corps Color Guard.  He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany.
