Jerry E. Shields

Jerry E. Shields, 74, of Chandlersville, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born on July 27, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Joe Shields and Thelma Jean (Burton) Shields.  He had a deep love for working the land and took great pride in farming his family farm. He enjoyed brush hogging, gardening, and tending to his fruit trees. He loved finding bargains at auctions and never passed up a great deal. In his younger years, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Grant) Shields, whom he married on October 27, 1973; his children, Clint (Oana) Shields, Rachel (Nick) Cassady, Cody (Kelly) Shields, and Drake Shields; grandchildren, Camryn, Carsyn, Eric, Roman, and Liam; one great-granddaughter, Jourdyn; and his three sisters, Vicki Shields, Susie Shields, and Patty Gould.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Carl Raymond “Buddy” Shields and Jim Shields.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Jody Holland officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Chandlersville.
