Janet L. Bates
February 25, 1939 — February 11, 2017
Janet L. Bates, 77, of Zanesville passed away peacefully at her residence on February 11, 2017, while under the care of Genesis Hospice.
Janet was born February 25, 1939 in Muskingum County. She was the daughter of the late Earl E. and Ina Ruth (McElroy) Menzie. Janet worked for over 13 years for John Shamp DDS in Zanesville and she was a member of the Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church where she served on the Session. Janet was a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed the time that she was able to spend with her family and friends.
Janet is survived by her son Loren (Marianne) Bates of Zanesville, Brenda Maniaci of Zanesville and Gina (Steve) White of Nashport; her grandchildren, Shaun (Lauren) Woolard, Ian White, Ryan (Jodie) Bates, Molly (Seth) Blagg, Kimberly White, Olivia and Alissa Maniaci; her six great-grandchildren; her sister Cheryl (Joe) Crawford and sister-in-law Ruth Menzie both of New Concord.
Janet is preceded in death by the Love of her life, Earl Barnes, who passed away September 25, 2015; her husband, Richard Bates who passed away July 10, 2003, and her brother Larry Menzie who passed away September 9, 2005.
Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held 11 am on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 with Rev. Darla Revennaugh officiating. She will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
