James E. Ruege

James E. Ruege, 72, of Duncan Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2017 with his friends and family by his side.

Jim was born on January 6, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA.  He is the son of the late Charles and Garnet (Buzard) Ruege.  He retired from Zanesville High School after 35 years as a History teacher. He continued teaching at Zane State College for another 7 years.  He loved traveling and hiking in Acadia National Park in Maine.  Jim was an avid reader and loved classical music, having over 2500 vinyl records and 5900 CDs in his collection.  He was very active with the Zanesville Concert Association, NEA, OEA, EOEA, and Delta Sigma Phi.  Jim loved spending time with his family and his two grandsons. Jim was a faithful member of the Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church.

Jim is survived by his wife Margaret (McConaha) Ruege whom he married August 23, 1975; his children Adam Matthew (Katrina) Ruege of Worthington, Ann Elizabeth Ruege of Columbus and Alexander Charles Ruege, PhD of Fairfax, VA and his two grandsons Jack Henry Ruege and Benjamin Matthew Ruege.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his two brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions in Jim’s name to the Zanesville Concert Association 2620 Douglas Drive, Zanesville, OH 43701 or to the American Heart Association.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday with Rev. Darla Revenaugh officiating.  He will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
