James Allen Linkhorn

James Linkhorn was called Home to the Lord, while in the loving presence of his family, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, he was 96 years old.  He was born in Cadiz, Ohio on December 16, 1920 to Robert and Lela Linkhorn.  He grew up in Byesville, Ohio and graduated from Byesville High School.  James proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, after which he purchased and operated his own hardware store in Byesville, Ohio, Linkhorn Hardware, which later became Linkhorn-Nicholson Hardware.  He also worked as a famer and a carpenter.  He enjoyed travelling with, Marjorie, his wife of 68 years; whom he married on October 5, 1947.  He also owned antique cars and studied genealogy.  He was a member of the American Legion, the Guernsey Co. Genealogy club, and the Guernsey Valley Old Car Club.  He was also a member of the New Concord United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed his Primrose friends and neighbors, and served his community in various organizations over the years.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Carolyn) Linkhorn, son, Gary (Patricia) Linkhorn, and his son, Richard (Rhonda) Linkhorn.  He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Brooks (Sarah), Ashli, Kimberly, Krystal, Tyrel (Molly), Melissa, and a great-grandchild, Ryan.  He has been reunited with his parents, his beloved wife, Marjorie, and his sister, Lucille who preceded him in death.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Jim at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Friday, December 15 from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM.  A funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church of New Concord on December 16th at 11AM, with a calling hour beginning one hour prior, at 10AM.  Rev. Karen Graham will officiate services, and burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either the New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 E High St, New Concord, OH 43762or Hospice of Central Ohio Valley, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd SE, Newark, OH 43055.
