James R. “Jim” Cooper, 76, of Hopewell, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on March 31, 2025.

Born on March 13, 1949, in Zanesville, Jim was the son of Russell and Margaret E. (McManus) Cooper. He dedicated much of his career to the tire industry, working as a tireman for Goss Bros. Tire and spending many years working with Joe Buckey.

A member of the Hopewell Free Methodist Church, Jim found joy in the outdoors and was an avid golfer. He not only enjoyed playing but also worked at Crystal Springs Golf Course. A passionate sports fan, he especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah J. (Zwahlen) Cooper, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage (married April 19, 1968). He leaves behind his children: Marc “Andy” (Kendra) Cooper, James Cooper Jr., Christopher (Wendy) Cooper, and Heidi (Garrick) Schaad; Grandchildren: Brittany (Josh) Clodfelter, Brandon Cooper, Cameron(Chloe) James, Jason Kirkland James, Savannah James, Morgan Cooper, Trey Lutz; Adrianna (Cody) Townsend, Arieonna (Brian) Adkins, Witten Schaad; six great grandchildren and two on the way; his brother, Tom (Peg) Cooper and sister in law Carol Droznick. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Cooper, and his grandson, Marc Cooper.

In keeping with his wishes, a caring cremation will take place, and no services will be held at this time.  The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is honored to care for the Cooper family.
