Harry H. “Scoop” McKirahan passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening of August 25th; he was 73 years old.  He was born in Brownwood, Texas on July 16, 1942 to Bernice (Tom) McKirahan and the late Harry C. McKirahan.

He is predeceased by his father and his sister, Leila Cavinee McKirahan.

Scoop is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Peggy M. McKirahan and his three children including, Staci Heller, Gwyn (Brian) Griffiths and Jeff (Rachel) McKirahan; his loving grandchildren, Brock and Alexa Heller, Jessica, Nick, Nina, Gianna Griffiths, Paige and Alli McKirahan, and Jordan and Kaden Jones; his great-grandchildren, Karsen and Trenton; his sister, Paula (Jim) Young, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Scoop worked for Muskingum University as a plumber for 20 years until his retirement in 2002. By trade, Harry also a carpenter, a car salesman and a barber after receiving his barber license from Andrew Barber College in Columbus.  In addition to spending time with his loving family, he enjoyed golfing, working with wood, playing cards most notably poker and blackjack and he also enjoyed working in his yard.  He was a member of the Oddfellows, The Cambridge Country Club, and he previously was an active member with the New Concord Volunteer Fire Department.

Friends and family are welcome to attend Calling Hours for Harry 3 to 8 PM Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, where Services will be held 11 AM Monday.  Rev. Karen Graham will officiate and he will be laid to rest in ­New Concord Cemetery.
