Harold Wayne Tom, 67 of Heath, OH, passed away unexpectedly at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark on October 19, 2015.
Harold was born in Zanesville on January 26, 1948, the son of the late Roy F. and Lucy (Howard) Tom. Harold retired from Premier Silica and he also worked in the oil fields and for Mattingly Foods as a truck driver. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing; he also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching Michigan football and his Cleveland Browns. He proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam, receiving the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
Harold is survived by his children Michael Tom, Anson Tom, Amanda Tom, Eric Tom and Teresa Tom; his grandchildren Dale Tom, Nathan, Dawn and Dakota Compston, and Syvannah Tom his great grandchildren Konnor Griffin, Kyle and Autumn Compston and Brock Burlow; his siblings Maude Wilson, Dale Tom, Alice LePage, Helen (Gary) Brillhart, Mary Lou (Audley) West, Donald Tom, Chuck (Patsy) Tom, Joann (Charles) Klies, Denny (Gladys) Tom and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his Brother-in-laws Pete Wilson and Harold LePage and his sister-in-law Juanita Tom.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord and from 10 to 11 am Friday. Funeral Services will be 11 am. He will be laid to rest beside his parents in Rich Hill Cemetery.
