Harold Stephenson Pendleton, 81, passed away July 8, 2014, at Autumn At The Lake, Thornville, Ohio. He was born August 31, 1932, in Elliston, Virginia and was the son of Charles and Della Taylor Pendleton. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955, achieving the rank of Airman First Class. Hap also served in the Air Force Reserves. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Etna, Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Reed Pendleton; daughter, Robin Pendleton, son, Paul Pendleton, and granddaughter, Heather Pendleton Burke, all from the Columbus area. He is also survived by stepsons, Richard (Charlotte) Reed of Westerville and Thomas (Carol) Reed of Racine, Ohio; four grandsons, Matthew (Becky) Reed of West Point, NY; Wesley (Erin) Reed of Westerville, Ohio, David Powell, Seattle, WA and Michael (Sharon) Powell, Minneapolis, MN; and two granddaughters, Sherri (Phillip) Johnson of Lancaster, Ohio and Theresa (Darrin) Bryan of Logan, Ohio. Hap was the proud great-grandpa of 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Bernard (Alice) and Frank Lee (Evelyn) Pendleton and one sister, Jane Czarnecki, all of Lafayette, Virginia. Hap also is survived by brother-in-law, Luther (Barbara) Gaffney of Columbus, numerous nieces and nephews, special friends Lawrence and Becky Haynes, John and Dolly Norris and Pastor Mark Plaugher and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, Charles Cletus, infant daughter, Myra Jane, brothers James and Lewis, sister Myra Belle, brother-in-law Emil Czarnecki and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Raymond and Juanita Shumaker. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 11 at Victory Baptist Church, Etna, Ohio. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM.
