Gloria Jean Zamensky

Gloria Jean Zamensky, 81 of New Concord, went on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 10, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

Gloria was born on May 9, 1943 in Roanoke County, Virginia. She is the daughter of the late Ernest Frazier Melvin and Amy Pearl Kitts Melvin. Gloria was a strong, independent, and outgoing woman in business and at home. Gloria was a devoted mother, grandmother (Nonnie) and great grandmother who always made sure her family was taken care of. Gloria never met a stranger and made friends very quickly with her outgoing personality.

Gloria’s life was a beautiful blend of creativity, passion, and love. A gifted artist, she found joy in capturing the world around her through watercolor, with flowers and lighthouses among her favorite subjects. Her love for beauty extended beyond her art, as she had a natural eye for design and a vision that transformed spaces. Whether renovating homes or decorating with care, she brought warmth and personality to every project. Gloria’s workshop, filled with tools, projects, and endless creativity, was her sanctuary—a testament to her ingenuity and determination. There was nothing she couldn’t build or fix. Her hands were always busy, whether crafting, repairing, or taking on a new project. Her heart was also deeply rooted in nature. Gloria had a special love for gardening, tending to her plants with the same nurturing spirit that defined her life. The outdoors brought her peace, and she found great joy in the companionship of her dogs, who were never far from her side. She also had a deep love for the ocean and traveling, exploring new places, always stopping what she was doing to watch the sunset and finding inspiration wherever she went.

Gloria also had a passion for music, especially opera and musicals, which brought her immense joy and connection.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Audrey (Jon) Zamensky Henderson and their children, Alexandria Henderson, Jon (Danielle) Henderson Jr., Brittani Henderson, Steven (Nicole) Henderson; her daughter, Andrea Zamensky and her son Cyle Ellison; her son, Andrew (Hillary) Zamensky and his children Angus and Adelaide; her son, Aaron (Melissa) Zamensky, and their children, Shelby, Riley and Oakley; and her 4 great grandchildren, Jovanni, Myles, Jon III “Jack” and Melody.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald A. Zamensky, who passed away on November 23, 2015; as well as her grandsons Michael J. Henderson and Yousef Moradi.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers who were also very special friends, Ellen Adair, Patsy Hare and Kay Waller. The family would also like to thank everyone at Shrivers Hospice for their caring support and kindness during this time.
