George Michael Lawson

October 29, 1959 — June 16, 2018

George Michael Lawson, 58, of Duncan Falls, OH went to be with the Lord, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, OH on June 16th 2018 at 4:28am, surrounded by his family and loved ones. George was born on October 29th 1959, to Don and Judith Lawson, in Albuquerque, NM. He was the oldest of four children. George served his country in the US Navy from 1978 to 1980 aboard the USS Ranger CVA/CV61.

As a young man, he loved riding bulls and continued to follow the sport his entire life. George was an avid biker whose greatest pleasure in life was to be on the open road, accompanied by his wife Judy and his Biker friends serving the Lord. He lived out this love in his career as a cross country truck driver with Fed Ex for the last 15 years. He was best known for his honesty, integrity and true grit. George was first diagnosed with cancer in 2013 and fought hard for 3 years, beating the disease in 2015, going into remission. His strength and will to live inspired everyone around him. However, in the devastating blow, doctors discovered cancer had returned at the end of April, 2018. George fought hard till the very end and will be missed by all who had the privilege of know him.

Left to honor and remember his love are, his wife; Judy Lawson, his parents; Don and Judith Lawson, his siblings; Margie Narin and Michael Dee Lawson. His two sons; Steven Lawson and Cody Lawson. His step children; Janis Bodley, Daniel Elliott and Kenny Dunklee and his 14 grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his sister Jane Lawson.

Family, friends and all others whose lives were touched by George are invited to celebrate his life at the Tree of Life Church (2220 Chandlersville Rd, Zanesville, OH 43701) on Friday, June 22nd 2018 at 11:00 a.m. George’s motorcyclist family is invited to join him on his final ride from the funeral home to the church and are asked gather at 10:00 a.m. at Farus Funeral Home (383 Main St, Duncan Falls, OH 43734).
