George "Bill" Aitken

George W. “Bill” Aitken passed away on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 while in the care of Genesis Hospital; he was 70 years old.  He was born on November 22nd, 1946 in Zanesville to Kenneth and Frances (Armbruster) Aitken.  He enjoyed talking to people, going to his grandchildren’s ball games, watching sports, and farming.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force, and worked for AK Steel as a crane operator before finally retiring.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda (Stiles) Aitken, his son, Terry Aitken, his daughter, Amy (Bert) Tooms, his grandchildren including Amber Aitken, Allexes (Kody) Ruggles, Adam Aitken, and Chris Tooms, and his great-grandchildren including Kobe and Janie Ruggles.  He also leaves to mourn his sister, Barb (Tom) Baker, and his in-laws, Bill and Sharon Stiles, as well as host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bob Aitken, and his brother-in-law, Robert Stiles.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Bill at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Friday, December 16th from 3 PM to 7 PM, with a service starting at 7 PM sharp, with Pastor Dale Parrish officiating.  Per his family’s wishes cremation will follow, and burial will take place at a later date.
