Gene P. Harding

July 26, 1938 — December 12, 2016

Gene Harding, 78 of Duncan Falls, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2016 at his residence while under the care of Genesis Hospice.

Gene was born on July 26, 1938 in Noble County.  He is the son of the late Grover P. and Blanche C (Braden) Harding.  He was an avid fisherman and he loved woodworking.  He worked for the Central Ohio Coal Company for 36 years, where he had many jobs including miner, equipment operator, mechanic and he even worked on the Big Muskie.  He was a member of United Mine Workers Local #1604 and he was Methodist by faith.  One of Gene’s loves was the many memories of the vacations to the ocean that he took with his family and extended family.

Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Trudy Harding, whom he married December 5, 1959; his two sons Steve (Kristi) Harding of Chandlersville and James Harding of Zanesville; his granddaughter Allison Starr; his brothers and sisters in-law Kay and Terry Bauserman, Ernie and Debbie Yerian and Jim Yerian and Sherrie Ziler and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his two brothers, William Harding and Elbert Harding; his three sisters Virginia Dawson, Kate Balsley and Hazel Tom and his mother-in-law Wilma Yerian.

Friends and family are welcome to attend memorial visitations for Gene, 10 am to 11 am on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 am with Rev. Karen Osborn officiating.
