Gary L. Earich

Gary L. Earich, 71 of Duncan Falls, formerly of Stockport, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024 at Altercare Zanesville surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on December 4, 1952 in Zanesville, Ohio. He is the son of the late Orville and A. Pauline (Phillips) Earich. He was a 1971 graduate of Morgan High School and a 1973 graduate of Ohio University Zanesville. Gary served in the Army National Guard from 1972-1977. Gary worked for WHIZ News for 40 years as a Television Production Manager before retiring in 2015. In his time at WHIZ he met many wonderful people, worked on countless Games of the Week, and had a large part in the 100th Anniversary Project of the 1913 Flood. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he helped record the radio broadcast of the Sunday services.

Gary was active in his community through Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Zanesville where he received the Big Brother of the Year Award 1985, The Delores J. Woerner Distinguished Service Award 1986, and the Past President Award 1988. He was president of the Philo Band Boosters in 2007-2008. In his free time, Gary was an avid reader and loved taking care of his pugs. He also enjoyed going to the various music concerts in the Zanesville and New Concord area.

Gary is survived by his children, Alex (Lauren) Earich and Olivia (Aaron) Kirkbride; his grandchildren, Noah, Nora, and Audrey Kirkbride; the mother of his children, Mollie Winland; cousins Diane (Earich) Goode, Chris (Brea) Earich, Renee (Earich) Apperson, Becky Phillips and their children and his ‘Little Brother’ Bill Swank.

Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by an uncle and aunt Marion and Frieda Phillips and his cousin Don Phillips.

Visitations will be 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Farus Funeral Home, 383 Main Street, Duncan Falls, Ohio.  Funeral services will be held at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 128 South Seventh Street, Zanesville, Ohio.  Rev. Andrew Wilson will officiate the service.

Military Honors will be conducted at 3PM on Tuesday at the Funeral Home by George Selsam VFW Post #1058.
