Gary Lee Cox Jr.

Gary L. Cox, Jr., 38, of Zanesville, passed away as the result of an automobile accident in Zanesville on November 20, 2021.

Gary was born in Zanesville on December 10, 1982.  He is the son of Gary L. (Barbara Sisk) Cox, Sr., and the late Debra (Steve Shaffer) Mellon-Shaffer.  Gary attended John Glenn High School and was proud to have earned his GED in 2016.  He worked for Legacy Roofing in Columbus and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the University of Miami Hurricanes.  In his free time, Gary loved to work on cars and spend time his beloved son, Braylon, who had the best times with his dad while they were roller skating.  Always the man for fashion, Gary enjoyed showing off his various styles of shoes, hats and hoodies.

In addition to his father and step-mother, Barb Sisk, Gary is survived by his son, Braylon Mason, and one on the way (due November 29), who will be named Zeppelin Gary Lee Cox; his girlfriend, Devin Miller, and her children, Marleigh Miller and Carmine Young; his siblings, Jennifer (Gary) James, Misty Barrientos, Jody Williams, Jesse (Christy) Sisk, Carrie (Sam) Myers, Krystal (Brian Money) Sisk, Stacy (Tracy) Lingafelter, Sonya (Scott) Harbaugh, Lacy (D.J.) Starr, and Dallas Cox; his paternal-grandmother, Orpha Cox; his step-father, Steve Shaffer; a special nephew and best friend, Brandon Hooper; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his mother, Gary is preceded in death by his paternal-grandfather, Charles Cox, Sr.; his maternal-grandparents, Robert (Lulabelle) Mellon; and his uncles, Charles Cox, Jr. and Bob Mellon.

Visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, 63 W. Main Street, New Concord, OH, 43762, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1pm.  Minister Tracy Lingafelter will officiate the service. Gary will be laid to rest next by his mother and uncle in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
