Frances Roberts

Frances Roberts, 68 of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 29, 2022.

Frances was born on September 21, 1954 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is the daughter of the late David P. and Frances K Polatty. Frances grew up in a military family around the Virginia Beach area. She worked for twenty-five years for several oil companies as an outside Salesperson. After meeting her husband in the military, David Roberts, they married on November 9, 1991. She became an active member in the Military Wive’s Club. Frances served as the U.S.S. Wasp (LHD-1) on Budsman. The Budsman is appointed by the commanding officer and served as a communication link between commanding officers and command families. She also helped to ensure that families have the information necessary to meet the challenges of a military lifestyle.

After military retirement, they moved to Ohio to enjoy the country life. One passion Frances had was for helping homeless animals. Frances always had a special place in her heart for homeless animals, especially cats. She rescued several stray cats and would always say that now they have a forever home. Her rescued cats were her children, she would do anything for them.

Frances will be forever loved and missed. She was a once in a lifetime wife and friend. I will always love you forever and ever.

Frances is survived by her sisters; Kathy Polatty Wilson of Dallas, Texas, Jeanne (Robert) Dickerson of Villages, Florida, Pat (Jack) Perkins of Villages, Florida, and Barbara (Ron) Reed of Monument, Colorado; her brothers, David (Nancy) Polatty of Mashpee, Maine, and James (Lori) Nagshead of North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her sister, Carol Polatty.

Frances will be forever loved and missed. She was a once in a lifetime wife and friend. I will always love you forever and ever.

In keeping with Frances’ wishes, a caring cremation will take place. The Farus Funeral Home of Cumberland is caring for the Roberts family.
