Esther Ellouise Coleman

Esther Ellouise Coleman (Hayes), age 88, of New Concord, Ohio passed away on February 2, 2025.  She was born on September 20, 1936 just outside New Concord, Ohio in Westland Township to the late Dewey and Clarice (Morrison) Hayes.  Along with her parents and loving husband of 65 years, Lewis Earl Coleman, she was preceded in death by her brothers Dale Hayes, Roger Hayes, Dean Hayes, and her sister Marylois Hammond.  Ellouise is survived by her children Shawna (Steve) Bodner, LaVawn Coleman and Douglas Coleman.  She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Hayes, loving grandchildren, Cole Lewis and Caylee (Nick) Gonzalez, and many nieces and nephews, including her special niece Diana (Hammond) Barker.  Her most recent blessing was the birth of her great-grandson, Theo Gonzalez.

Ellouise graduated from New Concord High School in 1954 and Cambridge Business College in 1956.  After working for more than 20 years for Grange Insurance Company, Ellouise retired to a quiet country life where she enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow, reading books, and traveling.  A beloved wife, caring mother, adored grandmother, and dear friend to many, she will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Special Olympics Ohio, Inc., 921 Eastwind Drive, Suite 120, Westerville, Ohio 43081 (https://support.sooh.org).  Visitation will be at Farus Funeral Home in New Concord on Monday, February 10, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:30 p.m., which will be officiated by Pastor Keith Taylor of College Drive Presbyterian Church.  Ellouise will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in New Concord following the service.
