Esther Botson

January 7, 1925 — September 16, 2014

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 16, 2014 Esther Botson, 89, of Cambridge, passed away at her home surrounded by her Loving Family. She was born January 7, 1925 in Kittanning, PA the daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred Lardin. Esther did her part during WWII by working in the factories of both Tomlin Bearing and Goodyear; helping to make Blimps and Airplanes for the war effort. She was a proud Presbyterian, and took solace and comfort in church whenever she could. Esther was a people person, she loved to serve others, and spread her special brand of love. She would often cater to friends at the Beckett House or the Evergreen Retirement Village. She found joy in a myriad of pastimes including gardening and painting, but she was renowned for her cooking. Cabbage rolls, noodles, canned fruits, jars of jelly, and most especially her baking skills marked her as a true chef. Her greatest pleasure came from just entertaining her family. The time she spent with them was more precious than gold, and nothing could make her smile more than family time. Esther is survived by her children, Linda Radcliff, Susan (Wayne) Farris, Mike (Trisha) Botson, Jane (Randy) Stillion, and Joe Botson and Anita Masters; her step-son James D. Botson; nine grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her step great-grandchildren and her step great-great grandchildren; her brothers Scott Lardin, Paul Lardin Bob Lardin, Frank Lardin and Matthew 'Bud' Lardin and her sisters Hattie Klinger and Lurella Swarmer. In addition to her parents, Esther is preceded in death by her husband Albert Botson, her son Robert 'Bob' Botson, her brothers Ralph Lardin, Ed Lardin and Bill Lardin and her sister Betty Guthrie. Visitations for Esther will be held from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 9PM on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, 63 West Main Street, New Concord (Formerly the Mock-Miller Funeral Home) and also from 10 to 11AM Friday, where funeral services will be held 11 am with Pastor Tim and Ellen Thomas officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mt. Olive Cemetery following services. The family request that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Hospice of Guernsey, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio 43725
