Edward L. Frank

October 25, 1928 — December 15, 2021

Cincinnati

Edward L. Frank, Sr. died on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife and family by his side.

He was born October 25, 1928 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, the son of Ann and Jacob Fadool. He volunteered for the US Army in 1945 at the age of 17 and entered service in the closing months of World War II and served as part of the Army of Occupation in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He was recalled to the US Army in 1950 to support US forces in the Korean War during which he was awarded a purple heart. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He returned to the University of Pittsburgh to complete his undergraduate studies. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Letters.

In 1955 he met his future wife on his way home from class. They married on October 20, 1956 at St. Paul’s Cathedral. He relocated with his family to Cincinnati, Ohio to begin a career with Westinghouse. In 1988 he founded ECOM Technologies where he served as president for the remainder of his career. Even after selling the business, he continued to work into his 90s.

Edward was a devoted member of Saint Anthony of Padua, Maronite Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, watching his beloved Pitt Panthers, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Frank; his children Nicole Phillips (David), Danielle Mason (Donald), Edward Frank, Jr. (Dorine); his grandchildren Alexander Phillips (Amanda), Christian Mason, Madeline Mason-Maier (J. Mason), and Zachary Mason; and his great grandchildren Grayson and Norah Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Jacob; 11 brothers and sisters; and a special sister-in-law, Carmen Marto.

In the end, devotion to his family, especially his wife Marie, was his overarching mission in life. It was his passion and his primary hobby.  His deep voice and presence belied his relatively small stature and will long be remembered for his gravitas in business and personal life. He had a dry sense of humor, a deeply logical mind, and a fabulous memory that he retained until the end. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00pm on December 29, 2021 at the Chapel of Traditions of Deerfield. Masks will be required. Father George Hajj will preside over the funeral mass. Due to limited capacity and COVID restrictions, please RSVP to Nicole at [email protected] . Condolences can be sent to Marie Frank at Traditions of Deerfield, 3455 Nantucket Cir, Loveland, OH 45140. Donations should be made to Saint Anthony of Padua, 2530 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45206.
